Winter beauty 101

Winter beauty 101 / www.heidiandcoco.comBeauty products perfect for Winter

What better time to get on top of your beauty regime than in Winter. With the days growing colder and darker earlier, Winter nights are perfect for spending that extra time on pampering yourself to get a glowing complexion for the warmer months ahead. Start with removing your make-up as soon as you get home, I love Johnson & Johnson face wipes (1), they have the right amount of moisture, no scent and are affordable (I use a lot of these so I don’t won’t to be spending a fortune on face wipes). Follow with a toner (9). Just before bed, dab a small amount of eye cream (4) under your eyes and lightly moisturise your face and neck with a night cream (6). If your skin is feeling extra dry pat some rose hip oil (8) on your face and neck before moisturising.

Daily, use a mild face scrub (2) when in the shower, then lightly moisturise (3) before putting on your makeup. I tend to use a face scrub that I can buy at the supermarket, as this is another thing that you tend to go through quickly. That way I can spend extra on a few more indulgent items like the serums and creams. Moisturisers that contain SPF are a great way to help protect your skin from daily UV rays and are just important to use in Winter. Weekly (because realistically you are never going to find the time to do it two or three times a week like recommended) use a deeper exfoliate (10) and a face mask (5). The Uber Pure Gel Exfoliate, pictured below is amazing, within two minutes it removes dead skin leaving your face looking instantly fresh and vibrant. You will feel like you have had a spa treatment or face peel, without the cost, time or redness! When it comes to face masks, I prefer to buy individual sachets at the chemist or Priceline. This allows you can try different bases like clay or cream and the ingredients won’t separate as they sometimes do in larger tubes. Nothing beats putting on a face mask and soaking in a hot bubble bath while it does it’s magic!

Lastly, carry in your handbag a lip protector (7) and a bottle of water. Remember your skin often reflects what you put in your body, whether that be food, caffeine, alcohol or other stresses. Water is the easiest and cheapest way to keep your skin hydrated, all year round, all of the time. Aim to drink 2-3 bottles a day.
