Monthly musings
July
What better way to kick off a fabulous new space than with a new feature, Monthly musings. Monthly musings will be, well just that, what I’m coveting, what is inspiring me and more…
We are well in the middle of Winter here in Melbourne, which means my wardrobe palette tends to whittle down to just blacks and greys (does this happen to anyone else?). I find it’s a perfect time to experiment with head to toe black. Whether you choose pants or tights or leggings to tie in the look, wearing black from head to toe always tends to look stylish and refined (I like to think slimming and elongating as well!). My winter staples are fine knits, long engulfing jackets, skinny jeans or leggings, scarfs and my pumps (not even winter has me turning from my beloved heels!). I’m still on the rose gold bandwagon but feel I’m starting to waiver back to silver.
Winter has me craving warm cosy spaces with lots of layers, think textured cushions and blankets. Nothing beats curling up at night, nice and toasty! Being inside so much, has me wanting to decorate. I’m going through an art phase, oh and in case you were wondering I’m loving birch wooden frames over white?! July seems to be the month where things slow down just a little, it’s mid year, time to re-assess and re-align for the second half of the year (it’s also probably because people are too cold and lethargic from the first half of the year to organise anything).
Winter is also a great time to cook as a family. I’m finding myself wanting to cook warm hearty and healthy foods from roasts to soups to home made pizzas (base and all) to slow cooked dishes. I’ll be sharing some of my recipes here.
By the end of July though the Winter blues usually have crept in a bit and I start longing for light and warmth and colour but I’ll leave those thoughts til my next musing! Hope you have enjoyed.
