14 Days to Wellness – day nine
When we breathe, air comes in and out of our lungs and helps us to convert food into energy in our cells, eliminating carbon dioxide in the process. With each breath energy flows through our bodies. When was the last time you focused on this energy? Focusing on your breathing provides multiple health benefits allowing your mind and body to function at its optimal. Deep breathing strengthens the immune system, relieves pain and increases muscles. It also reduces stress, tension and provides a sense of calm. Sounds good right, the best part is you can try it right now. To start, breathe deeply into your abdomen (past your chest) from the nose for a count of 5, hold the breathe for a count of 3, then release through the mouth for a count of 5. Straight away you should feel more relaxed. Build up to 10mins a day and feel the difference deep breathing makes.
